Thomas Fitzgerald
Colana Sports Group, Founder

A former Marine, with a 20 year career as a New York approach Air Traffic Controller, Tom joined the ranks of philanthropist in 1990, when he joined the Marty Lyons Foundation, a make-a-wish not-for-profit whose mission is to grant wishes to terminally ill children. While Tom was a wish grantor, his forte was organizing fundraisers and soliciting corporate sponsorships. Because of Tom’s MLF experience, he had the idea to design a program that married then fledgling airline, JetBlue, with resort partner, Doral Miami to garner JetBlue marketing access to the private country club community. Tom quickly realized that for Colana to be a one stop shop for their clients, he began adding golf equipment to the program. By cutting out the middle man, and working directly with NIKE, Callaway, Taylormade, Adidas, Puma, and Cobra, Colana Sports Group was able to deliver a product that no one could compete with. 19 years later, the JetBlue Challenge Golf enhancement program is still the only Hole-In-One golf tournament enhancement program of its’ kind delivered to golf tournament organizers, charities, and private country clubs by Colana Sports Group, the company Tom and his wife, Christine founded. As JetBlue’s only subcontractor, Colana Sports Group has since consulted on thousands of charity golf tournaments and assisted charities in raising millions of dollars for their respective causes. By partnering with over 1800 golf tournaments and events annually, Colana Sports Group has gained access to over 300,000 potential clients, mostly in the private country club community. Tom retains long standing relationships with the CMAA and the PGA and has worked with hundreds of country clubs’ General Managers. In 2007, Tom added a new element to the Challenge program by partnering with premium resort properties. What Tom accomplished for then fledging airline partner, JetBlue, Colana Sports Group was now prepared to do for their resort partners. By combining a fantastic resort experience with round trip tickets on JetBlue, Colana Sports Group provided their clients with vacation opportunities that they awarded to their charity supporters and country club members and some utilized these prizes to raise revenue. Colana Sports Group has relationships with hundreds of private country clubs, yacht clubs and city clubs, incentivizing their members to travel to our CSG partner resorts.
